Eri Chichibu

Eri is a Japanese composer and pianist. She won the Owen Prize in 2020 and the ASCAP Foundation Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award in both 2019 and 2020. She graduated Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, dual-majored in Jazz Composition and Film Scoring and minored in Video Game Scoring. Eri writes and performs her jazz compositions while also making music for media such as TV, radio and video games.

Written for a seven-piece jazz ensemble + field recording, her jazz suite Sound Map ←2020→ Sendai premiered in Sendai, Japan in 2020. After its impactful premiere, she and her band performed this unique sounding suite on NHK music program (Japanese public broadcasting), where she also performed on piano with Makoto Ozone.
